Abbos Kosimov is known worldwide as a phenomena among international percussionists. His dynamic performances have made him wellknown around the world as a master of Doyra and ambassador of Uzbek culture.

Abbos Kosimov was born in Taschkent, Usbekistan as a son of one very musical family. He studied at the Academy of Music and culture and graduated in 1984 at the Doyra Master Mamurjon Vahabov.
He was allready as a child a student of Ustad Tuychi Inagomov – one of the few artists who received official recognition from the Uzbek state.He received several awards, and established a Doyraschule in Uzbekistan.
Since 2005 Abbos lives in the US, where he has taken up with Steve Wonder and Zakir Hussein.
Concerts with Kronos Quartet, Dohee Lee, Homayoun Sakhi Alim Qasimov Ensemble, Omar Sosa – among others at Carnegie Hall – are just a few stops on the way.
Currently he is a member of Ustad Zakir Hussain’s Masters of Percussion.
